After God's Own Heart

God said that David was a man after his own heart. Can you imagine the honor of being recognized by God for seeking after his heart? I truly do seek God’s heart, but I don’t believe he would single me out for that. I love the story of David. He was an ordinary, humble servant that became a mighty king. Yet, he made terrible mistakes and committed such horrible sins. But God, in his infinite mercy and grace, forgave David and restored him.

When he sinned, David held nothing back in repenting and weeping before God. He demonstrated true sorrow and guilt for all that he had done. When he praised the Lord, he went all in and gave it everything he had. He was totally unashamed of his love and devotion to God. He really was a man after God’s own heart.

I really want to be just as zealous for following God, knowing his heart in every situation, and fulfilling his will in all that I do. I would love for him to tell me that I am a man after his own heart!

Acts 13:22 (NLT) - But God removed Saul and replaced him with David, a man about whom God said, “I have found David son of Jesse, a man after my own heart. He will do everything I want him to do.”
