Do you have a key drawer or some other place where you keep a stash of keys? Maybe you have one of those giant key rings that holds a hundred keys on it. We have a key drawer where most of them are kept, but I occasionally run across a stray one in a random drawer or even in a tin can with assorted screws, nuts, and bolts in the garage.
Two of our key chains go to our truck and one goes to our car, along with a house key on each. Some of the other keys go to our trailer, our rental house, a couple of our sheds, and various other locks. However, there are a great number of “mystery” keys that I have no clue as to what they lock or unlock!
What do you do with those stupid mystery keys? I can never seem to convince myself to throw them away. I am afraid that as soon as I do, I will discover the locks that they go to and I will be forever angry at myself for throwing them away. For all I know, some of those keys have moved with us for the last 30-plus years!
There are many keys to success in our walk with God. One of them may just be getting rid of all the clutter in our lives. Maybe I should start with my clutter of keys!
Proverbs 4:13 (NLT) - “Take hold of my instructions; don’t let them go. Guard them, for they are the key to life.”
