Great Expectations

Are you ready for the day? Did you leap out of bed, excited for what the day holds in store? Well, I don't do much leaping out of bed anymore for fear I might pull a muscle or three, but I really am excited about the day ahead.

Sundays are my favorite day of the week because I get my spiritual food that day, along with fellowship with other Christians. My batteries get recharged, my pastor always challenges me with something from the Word that I chew on all week, and church is usually followed by a nice lunch with my wife and maybe some friends. Sunday afternoon is also a great day for a much needed and, I believe, well deserved nap!

But what about the rest of the week? Sometimes it's hard to get really excited about the work day ahead. Especially if there is turmoil and stress involved or unhappy coworkers. Occasionally, our source of happiness and joy has to come from somewhere else. We have to be that shining light in the dark places. That can be difficult in our current "PC" culture. But that doesn't give us an out.

We're still called to be witnesses to the Good News and take that wherever we go. That can come in many forms and we have to use wisdom to know how to apply that in our own situation. But don't shy away from sharing God's love and spreading joy, peace, and happiness. The world could use a healthy dose of that right now.

So leap out of bed and expect great things to happen today! If you're my age, just make sure you stretch a little before you leap.

Mark 16:15 (NLT) - "And then he told them, 'Go into all the world and preach the Good News to everyone'."
