New Every Morning

I'm sitting here drinking my coffee on this cool, summer high desert morning watching the sun rise. I'm reminded that each day is a new beginning and a chance to "get it right". So far, I haven't blown it. I woke up refreshed from a full night's sleep and, although I have a full, busy day ahead, my batteries are recharged and I'm ready to tackle the day. I haven't veered to the left or right and I've stayed on the straight and narrow path. All is well. Only 23 more hours to go!

Most days go relatively well and I don't put that much thought into my steps along the path because I'm usually too busy to give it that much attention. Maybe I should give it more focus so that I wouldn't wander off as I occasionally do... because we all do, right? If you don't, please tell me your secret!

I normally don't realized I've left the path until I step into a gopher hole or someone grabs my attention. The path is well marked and sometimes I ignore the signs and go right off on my own anyway. So I guess there is premeditated wandering and accidental wandering. I must confess that I've done both. That ol' flesh just loves to get in the way and take charge and lead me off like a lamb to the slaughter!

Thankfully, I serve a God that is full of grace, mercy, and forgiveness! He made a provision for us path wanderers to get back on the straight and narrow. He's there waiting for us each and every time. His mercies truly are new every morning!

John 3:17 (NIV) - "For God did not send his Son into the world to condemn the world, but to save the world through him."
