We can find a lot of things that bring us great joy and pleasure. There is absolutely nothing wrong with a variety of activities, possessions, or people that provide you with happiness and make you smile. The bible even tells us that a cheerful heart is good medicine. Laughter is good for you and brings healing to your soul. A person that is joyful can infect others as well, lifting the mood in a room so that joy spreads to all.
Our greatest joy should always come from our relationship with Jesus. If you are having a bad day, remind yourself of who he is and what he did for you. This should lift your mood and restore your joy. Take pleasure in knowing that, no matter what your circumstances, you may rest in the knowledge that your soul belongs to Jesus and your eternal home is with him. Nothing can separate you from your Lord and Savior!
This knowledge should always bring you greater joy than anything in the world. He loves you, he cares for you, and he holds you safely and securely in his arms. Be continually filled with the joy of the Lord!
Proverbs 17:22 (NLT) - “A cheerful heart is good medicine, but a broken spirit saps a person’s strength.”
