It is so thrilling to relive the joys of our children’s Christmas morning through our grandchildren. They bounded into the family room this morning and saw the empty glass of milk, the partially eaten plate of cookies, and the tree full of presents. Their eyes were wide with joy and delight as they took it all in and began to run around the room, squealing with delight. Somehow they reigned it all in to wait for the traditional cinnamon rolls and breakfast before opening the presents.
Listening to their conversation, with the laughter and giggles, smiles plastered on their faces, brings me such pleasure and satisfaction. It takes me back to when our children were kids. It is such a wonderful day and I am so appreciative of all that God has blessed me with.
I am most thankful that this holiday is based on our celebration of the birth of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. It is because of him, and him alone, that we are gathered together. It is because of him that we have anything and everything. Thank you, Lord, for sending your Son to us. We praise you for our Savior! Happy birthday, Jesus and Merry Christmas everybody!
Isaiah 9:6 (NLT) - “For a child is born to us, a son is given to us. The government will rest on his shoulders. And he will be called: Wonderful Counselor, Mighty God, Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace.”
