When the Unexpected Happens - The Sequel

So I blindly reached my hand in the container for my K-cup of coffee this morning and popped it into my Keurig, anxiously anticipating that first cup of coffee. When I took that first sip, I knew something was afoul. So what did I do? I took another of course! Did I get a different result? Of course not. That’s when I decided to investigate. I retrieved the discarded K-cup from the trash can and discovered that I had made a nice hot cup of English black tea!

All of that is fine if you like English black tea and if your taste buds are prepared for it. Otherwise it can be a shock when you are expecting good ol’ black coffee. I have heard that black or green tea is actually good for you, but I prefer coffee. I had the choice of spitting it out and investigating it further before moving on to my coffee. Yet my curiosity drove me to try it again to make sure my taste buds hadn’t failed me with my first sip.

Spiritually, we are gifted with “radar” that warns us, just as my taste buds tried to warn me, about things await us that we should avoid or turn away from. We often ignore them and plunge ahead. God doesn’t grab us, lift us up, and physically move us to where we are supposed to go (most of the time anyway). No, he nudges us by promptings from the Holy Spirit and gives us the choice to heed his warnings or not. Be sensitive to his voice and heed his advice. You won’t regret it!

Psalms 95:7 (NLT) - “For he is our God. We are the people he watches over, the flock under his care. If only you would listen to his voice today!”
