I am blessed to be active in a church that is co-pastored by a husband and wife team that is so wonderfully gifted to lead their congregation. They are the senior pastors and they lead a team of awesome pastors at our church. Next month is Pastor Appreciation Month, but I feel inspired to show mine now, especially to my senior pastors.
I have known them since they were youth in our church. There is no greater or challenging calling than to be a pastor and these two have stepped up to the plate and hit it out of the park. I know their history, I’ve seen their ups and downs, I’ve witnessed their incredible growth and maturity, I’ve witnessed their transformation from students to teachers, and I am so honored to be serving under their leadership now.
More than just pastors, I love and care for them as I would my own children. When we step into church or attend a meeting in one of our official roles, I submit to their authority as senior pastors, but outside of that, I consider them as family. I beam with pride as I observe them leading the church. They are both gifted preachers, teachers, worship leaders, and administrators, with each having stronger giftings in certain areas. They compliment each other’s giftings and do an awesome job of equipping others to perform their calling as well.
Take the time to acknowledge your pastors, not just during Pastor Appreciation month, but every chance you get. It’s a full-time and exhausting job for those, like mine, who are doing it right. It is a worthy and noble calling. Pray daily and continually for them and their families. They are praying for you!
