Inventory

I was a supply and logistics officer during my time in the Marine Corps. I was responsible for keeping whatever unit I was assigned to supplied with everything it needed to sustain itself in combat. We were constantly tracking our inventory to ensure that we did not run out of any item, especially the critical ones. That means that we had certain inventory levels that, when reached, told us that it was time to reorder.

It may sound simple, but it required keeping usage data on each item of inventory, considering shelf life, shipping time, and whether the item was a consumable or non-consumable item. You did not want to tell the Commanding Officer (CO) that the unit was not combat ready because he was missing critical equipment that he needed to engage the enemy! It could cause you to be relieved on the spot, and maybe even cause the CO to be relieved as well. Not good!

You need to take inventory of your spiritual life as well. Make sure you are well equipped to engage the enemy. You never know when he may attack. You are replenished by staying in God’s Word, attending church on a regular basis, and surrounding yourself with fellow believers that can hold you accountable when something is lacking in your life. Always take inventory and be combat ready!

2 Timothy 2:21 (NLT) - “If you keep yourself pure, you will be a special utensil for honorable use. Your life will be clean, and you will be ready for the Master to use you for every good work.”
