Another grandchild hits two digits! These grandchildren keep having birthdays and getting older. It’s amazing how they do that and, yet, my wife and I stay the same. Okay, I wish it was that way and I wish I could be there to celebrate her tenth birthday with her, but we can’t always get what we want. Our love for these littles, as we like to call them, is beyond measure. We care about each moment of their lives and don’t want to miss a thing.
One of the things we love is to hear them talk about one of their accomplishments at school, or dance, or in whatever activity they happen to be a part of. If it’s important to them, then it’s important to us. We were the same way with our children when they were little, but somehow it’s amplified with our grandchildren. Probably because we’re older and more mature now. We were still kids ourselves back then it seems. We now appreciate and respect the incredible speed of time, and how fast they grow, through the benefit of hindsight.
God has the benefit of hindsight and foresight. He loves us, in spite of His intimate knowledge of everything about us. We are His children and He loves hearing from us every day through prayer and time spent with Him. He cares about what is important to us. If you haven’t asked Jesus to come into your heart, ask Him today. Then you can celebrate your second birth day, along with my granddaughter’s tenth birthday. She would really love that! Happy birthday!
John 3:16 (NLT) - “For this is how God loved the world: He gave his one and only Son, so that everyone who believes in him will not perish but have eternal life.”
