This is the tenth Mother’s Day my mom has been in heaven. This is one of those days that I reflect on how special mothers really are and what a vital role they play in our lives. I can’t imagine how differently my life would have turned out without mine.
My mother had flaws, just like we all do, but she had the biggest heart and such a love for her family and those around her. She was so in love with Jesus, my dad, and her family. She was a mighty prayer warrior and spent countless hours in prayer, interceding for any need that she was aware of. If Mom said she would pray for you, those were not empty words. She would pray for you!
Mom rarely slept through the night and she could often be found, in the morning, asleep on the couch, with her open bible and pen and highlighters laying next to her. She had dozens of bibles, all underlined, written in, and highlighted, from cover to cover. She digested God’s Word day and night, so when He called her home almost ten years ago, we weren’t ready, but she was! Happy heavenly Mother’s Day, Mom! I love you and miss you so much!
Ephesians 6:2-3 (NLT) - “Honor your father and mother.” This is the first commandment with a promise: If you honor your father and mother, “things will go well for you, and you will have a long life on the earth.”
