A Call to Prayer

Today is the National Day of Prayer in the United States. In this year’s proclamation the President stated, in part, “I call upon the citizens of our Nation to give thanks, in accordance with their own faith and conscience, for our many freedoms and blessings, and I invite all people of faith to join me in asking for God’s continued guidance, mercy, and protection.”

I am less than inspired by the proclamation written for the President to sign, but I am thankful that one was delivered. The great thing about the National Day of Prayer is that perhaps hundreds of thousands of Americans are united in praying for our country and its leaders and giving thanks to God for this amazing nation that we are blessed to be citizens of.

God calls us to humble ourselves, seek his face, and turn from our wicked ways. This is the perfect day to do that as a nation. A national day of prayer, thanksgiving, and repentance. He will hear us and heal our land!

2 Chronicles 7:14 (NLT) - “Then if my people who are called by my name will humble themselves and pray and seek my face and turn from their wicked ways, I will hear from heaven and will forgive their sins and restore their land.”
