How many times do you download an upgrade or new version of software to your computer? How often do you actually read that before you click on “I Agree”? If you do not agree with the terms then you cannot download the update so, whether you agree or not, you will always agree. Otherwise, that software will most likely never be any good to you.
We get these pop-up windows constantly on our smart phones and computer and, most likely, we just automatically scroll down and agree to the terms without ever reading them or knowing exactly what we are agreeing to. This happens on just about anything that is written by a team of lawyers, such as legal documents for real estate transactions, wills, car sales, etc. Just tell me where to sign please!
Don’t treat your Bible the same way. When your pastor takes you through his message on Sunday, write down his Scripture references and take them home and study them thoroughly. Apply them to your daily lives during the week. Dive even deeper into the Word and cross reference them with other Scripture to see what else the Word says about a particular passage.
There is so much to be found in the Bible. Don’t just “agree” with everything you hear and close your Bible until the next sermon. Use it daily for your own devotional time with God. Open it up and let him speak to you through his Word. Read all the fine print from Genesis to Revelation. You will be blessed when you do!
Joshua 1:8 (NLT) - “Study this Book of Instruction continually. Meditate on it day and night so you will be sure to obey everything written in it. Only then will you prosper and succeed in all you do.”
