It’s always been funny to me how a lot of us set aside the new year as a time for new beginnings. We usher out the old year, which is only a year old, and ring in the new year! We make our new year’s resolutions and proclaim how much better we will do this or that, which lasts only as long as our willpower allows us. Depending on what it is, mine either last a few hours, or a few weeks.
There really is nothing magical about the end of a calendar year and there is nothing wrong about the festivities of enjoying a party with friends. But if you need to change habits, lose weight, turn your life around, or whatever it is, why wait until a new year? Do it now and put your efforts into making that lifestyle change whenever you feel the need to make a change. It doesn’t matter what day or month it is.
If you haven’t given yourself to Christ, don’t put that off one single day. You never know what tomorrow may bring. Give your heart to him today, which just happens to be New Year’s Eve. Now that’s a great way to ring in the new year! Happy New Year everybody!
2 Corinthians 5:17 (NLT) - “This means that anyone who belongs to Christ has become a new person. The old life is gone; a new life has begun!”
