Something About A Lake

We looked at lakefront properties yesterday and saw a couple of beautiful homes and some with a lot of potential. It was easy to envision ourselves living there and enjoying the peace and tranquility of that lifestyle. I imagined our children and grandchildren joining us at our lake house, playing games, fishing, boating, barbecuing, and watching the sunrise from the deck.

It could be a future full-time retirement home or simply a vacation rental by owner (VRBO) that earns us some passive income that we can enjoy for ourselves from time to time. The surrounding community offers many of the things that I have dreamed of and I believe I have worked hard for and earned. I am excited about the prospect of this as a possibility for our near future.

I believe strongly in making plans, but I believe even stronger in seeking God in all that I do. I certainly do not want to do anything that he is not a part of, even in the decision-making process. He must be the key part in our plans and at the forefront of all that we do in order for our plans to succeed. Every place that we have lived and every move we have made, even when it didn’t “feel” like it, was inspired, ordained, and blessed by God. I never want that to change.

There is something about a lake, a home on a lake, that is so appealing to me and how I envision myself in the future. I can’t explain it, but it appeals to me. I can certainly envision endless time watching the sun rise and set, quiet moments spent, listening to his voice as he speaks to my heart. If his will is something different, then let it be so, but there is something about a lake…
