We are pretty good at obeying the warning signs on the highway, such as “Bridge Out” or “Road Closed” or “Flooded”. When you see these, you tend to pay attention and either slow down or change your route, depending on what the sign says.
The Bible is filled with warning signs that have far more eternal consequences and, yet, we tend to ignore many of those. Maybe it is because we might not immediately drive off the road where a bridge used to be into a deep canyon and die. We have decided that we can put off the warning signs in the Bible and pay attention to them later on in life.
The problem with that strategy is that you never know what may be around that sharp curve in the road and encounter something for which there was no warning sign. What if “later” never comes? We don’t plan for that, but it happens. Now is the time to heed God’s calling and his word. Live your life in obedience to him so that you can live your life with the joy of knowing that you are always prepared to spend eternity with him.
Warning signs are for our protection and serve to give us a heads up that potential danger lies ahead. Pay attention to them and be sheltered in his arms of love.
Deuteronomy 32:46 (NLT) - He added, “Take to heart all the words of warning I have given you today. Pass them on as a command to your children so they will obey every word of these instructions.”
