I remember, as a kid, when that was a real burn. "You're such a mama's boy!" Those could be fightin' words! I have no idea if that's still a big thing today.
I would embrace that today. I'm actually more often compared to my dad in my mannerisms and my demeanor. However, my still-sharp and witty 92-year old father tells my (much) oldest big brother and I that we "act just alike". True fightin' words there, but I think Dad could still take me so I'll let that go for now.
I love my dad and my older brothers more than words can express, but this is Mothers Day so I'll talk about moms again. Oh... happy Mothers Day to all you precious mamas by the way!
My mother is in heaven now and I miss her every day, but the loss is ours and not hers. She's where she wanted to be. So what is being a mama's boy? If it's loving her and wanting to be with her and wanting to please her, then I was guilty of that. Sure, just like every kid growing up, I often wanted to get as far away as I could... especially when the guys were around. But she was always there to pull me back in at any time.
Yep... I'm a mama's boy. And I'm proud of it.
Proverbs 23:25 (NLT) - "So give your father and mother joy! May she who gave you birth be happy."
