Who Are You Praying To?

Occasionally, I have to reevaluate my prayer life and assess my attitude about it. I find my prayers evolving more into a 9-1-1 call to God, as if he is there only to answer when I am in the midst of an emergency. When I catch myself doing that, I reel myself back in and remember who I am praying to!

He is God the Almighty, our Heavenly Father, the Creator of the universe. He is sovereign and he alone holds the future in his hands because he is the judge and the rewarder. He loves us and he wants relationship with us. That begins with communication through prayer, praise, and worship. He is there to hear my cries when I am under attack from the enemy, but he also desires to hear from me daily and consistently when all is well!

Do not take God lightly or put him anywhere below number one in your priority list. He is the reason you exist. Hold him in reverence and awe. Love him with all your heart, soul, mind, and strength. He alone is worthy of all praise, honor, and glory. Remember who you are praying to!

1 Peter 1:17 (NLT) - And remember that the heavenly Father to whom you pray has no favorites. He will judge or reward you according to what you do. So you must live in reverent fear of him during your time here as "temporary residents."
