I know this is a strange topic, but stick with me. I have prescriptions for blood pressure, cholesterol, and a couple of other issues. I’ve been taking them for a number of years now and I hate living with a pill organizer! I asked my doctor how I got here and how I could get rid of my meds. He had the nerve to tell me that I am overweight and need to lose weight. I totally resemble that remark!
I began to gain weight gradually and consistently during the latter part of my career. That’s when my need for prescription meds began. I was exercising less and my eating habits were and are less than ideal. I have known for a long time (mirrors and scales don’t lie) that I need to lose weight through proper diet and exercise, but have not made a serious or consistent effort to do so. Just knowing what to do won’t fix your problems; you have to act on it!
Our spiritual lives are the same. I know I have to feed myself a proper diet of spiritual food that comes from reading and meditating on God’s Word. I need to exercise my spiritual life by walking daily and continually with him. Only then will I be able to rid myself of the things that are unhealthy for me. What meds are you on?
1 Corinthians 6:19-20 (NLT) - “Don’t you realize that your body is the temple of the Holy Spirit, who lives in you and was given to you by God? You do not belong to yourself, for God bought you with a high price. So you must honor God with your body.”
