What in the world do I mean by that? We often ignore the little things and only pray to God for the big things. What happens to your faith when you only ask God for something big and you don’t get the answer you were looking for? I am a man of great faith in God and he has answered some big prayers for me. But there have been a number of big ones that have not turned out the way I wanted or expected.
For every prayer that I have prayed for big or difficult things, I have prayed thousands of times for smaller things. We all acknowledge that nothing is too difficult for God, but we seem to not want to bother him with the small things. He wants us to take everything to him in prayer. Each little decision that you make, small aches and pains, or even things that you think you can handle yourself, are things that God wants to hear. Take it all to him. All of the little faith builders prepare you for the big ones.
No matter what your request is, tremendous power is released through the passionate, heartfelt prayer of a godly believer (see James 5:16b - TPT). Understand that, when I’m talking about difficult or big versus easy or small things, I mean things that are difficult or easy from our perspective… not God’s. It’s all the same to him! He can heal a person of cancer just as easily as he can calm your nerves before an important job interview.
There are so many things I could say about taking everything to God in prayer, but one of the biggest advantages of it is that it means more time in fellowship with him. God loves time spent with you. He loves you and cares for you. So, don’t just pray big… pray little as well!
1 Thessalonians 5 (NLT) - “Never stop praying.”
