Do you believe in God because of your own faith in him? Or do you believe because your parents told you to… or maybe because your pastor told you to…. or even because one of your friends told you to. Maybe these are reasons you answered the call to receive Christ in your heart and accept him as your Lord and Savior as part of an emotional response. But do you truly believe in him?
Jesus is real and he is the answer to everything. He is such an amazing and wonderful Savior and he truly is Lord of all. It’s okay if you are new in your faith and haven’t fully grasped the reality of who Jesus is. Part of accepting him as your Lord and Savior is believing that he is the Son of God, that he died for your sins, and that he arose from the dead and ascended into heaven to sit at the right hand of God the Father to intercede forever on your behalf. He really is God’s one and only Son and he really died for you! He is alive now and forever! Your belief in this is essential to your salvation.
Once you grasp this and believe this, all else is icing on the cake. If you truly believe in Jesus, you will want to live to serve and please him. You’ll stumble and fall, but he will be right beside you to pick you up, dust you off, and help you continue on your way. He loves you, forgives you, and wants fellowship with you. All he asks is that you believe. God saved you by his grace. Salvation is his gift to those who will receive it.
Ephesians 2:8-10 (NLT) - “God saved you by his grace when you believed. And you can’t take credit for this; it is a gift from God. Salvation is not a reward for the good things we have done, so none of us can boast about it. For we are God’s masterpiece. He has created us anew in Christ Jesus, so we can do the good things he planned for us long ago.”
