What Do You Hear?

We are living in a time when people only listen to what their itching ears want to hear. We follow our own desires and look for teachers who will tell us whatever we want to hear. There are a lot of strange teachings out there that are not in line with God’s Word. The Gospel isn’t always easy to hear and it is often contrary to the desires of our flesh. Some teachings water down the Word by emphasizing the parts that we like and ignore the parts that make us feel uncomfortable or challenge us too much.

Any teaching that doesn’t point to Jesus as the only way to the Father is false teaching. He is the Way, the Truth, and the Life. No one comes to the Father except through the Son. Don’t be led astray by false doctrines and false teachers. I have some people close to me that have been deceived by the enemy into thinking there is another way to God. I pray that they are restored to a relationship with Jesus and the only path to the Father.

I am encouraged by reports that I’m hearing about churches growing through this pandemic. The message of Christ isn’t being halted by closing the sanctuaries. His Word cannot be extinguished and people are seeking after Him for answers during this difficult time. That’s the way it has been throughout the ages. When times are tough, people return to the Lord. I pray that we will see a time of tremendous growth and spiritual revival in our land as a result. Read your Bible, listen to God’s Word, and follow His teaching. What do you hear?

2 Timothy 4:3-4 (NLT) - “For a time is coming when people will no longer listen to sound and wholesome teaching. They will follow their own desires and will look for teachers who will tell them whatever their itching ears want to hear. They will reject the truth and chase after myths.”
