Hit the Brakes!

It’s a natural instinct to hit the brakes when you see a police car as you’re driving down the highway. It doesn’t matter if you’re actually speeding or not. Our foot automatically lets off of the gas and eases over to the brake pedal and we slow down… just in case.

So, naturally, you would do the same thing if you were sinning and you saw Jesus walk into the room. You would put the brakes on and check on the status of your situation. You would certainly be on your best behavior. The reality of it is… God is always watching! He sees every deed, he knows every thought, and he alone is your judge. So spiritually-speaking, you should stay under the speed limit and never worry about having to hit the brakes. You are always on God’s radar.

We all sin and we all fall short of his glorious standard. That’s why he sent Jesus to pay the penalty for our sins. All we have to do is receive him, hit the brakes, and stop sinning. When we do sin, we simply ask for his forgiveness, turn away from our sin, and continue on in obedience and without compromise. Examine your heart and your life. If you need to, then hit the brakes!

Psalms 119:3 (NLT) - “They do not compromise with evil, and they walk only in his paths.”
