In whatever field you work in, you become the expert in what you do. Usually, you know what you are doing and it is sometimes hard to explain to others exactly what your job entails. This is especially true for me in the field of digital forensics. I sometimes had to testify in court and explain my work to a jury. The prosecutor would ask me to “dumb it down” so that the technical aspects of my testimony could be more easily understood. By that, he or she meant that I was to put it all in “layman’s” terms so that I wouldn’t put the jury to sleep. Otherwise, my testimony would be ineffective and of no use to the prosecution.
This makes me think about my limited knowledge of God and his Word. I have read through the Bible many times and, although I know a lot about what it says, I readily admit that I don’t know much at all compared to all there is to know. I’m certain that when he inspired the scriptures, God had to “dumb it down” in order for us to have any kind of understanding. He gave us what we could handle.
There is so much more about him that we will know when we see him face to face. Even though we only know in part, one day we will see clearly. I am so in love with our Father, who is beyond comprehension. Stay in the Word and delight in the knowledge he has imparted to us!
1 Corinthians 13:12 (NLT) - “Now we see things imperfectly, like puzzling reflections in a mirror, but then we will see everything with perfect clarity. All that I know now is partial and incomplete, but then I will know everything completely, just as God now knows me completely.”
