Speed Up or Slow Down

Time is already flying by with each year that passes. I don’t know about you, but I have gone through periods of my life where I want it to speed up and then sometimes I want it to slow down. My grandchildren are growing way too fast, so I need time to slow down, but I’m anxious for it to speed up for me to get moved closer. I want it to speed up so this quarantine will be over, but I want it to slow down because I’m enjoying working from home. I want it to slow down because I’m getting older, but I definitely want it to speed up so I can retire!

What a crazy, mixed up mess of wishes we throw out there! I suppose it would be wise for me to just relax and enjoy this long, wonderful ride we call life and take each moment as it comes. There is so much to enjoy in the here and now and so much to look forward to. We spend way too much of our time wishing for this or that and not enough time enjoying what we have and the place we are in.

God wants you to live life to the fullest… in the present. Be a constant, positive presence in the lives of those around you. Stop and smell the roses, as the cliche goes. Time will play its tricks on you by seemingly speeding up or slowing down. Learn from your past, live in the moment you’re in, and look forward to the future.

Proverbs 4:23 (NLT) - “Guard your heart above all else, for it determines the course of your life.”
