You have heard this expression used to describe all kinds of relationships, whether it’s marriages, new friendships, new jobs, or even a new car or home purchase. At first, everything is fresh and new and perfect until you really get to know that person, job, or thing that you are now deeply involved in. That new car gets its first scratch or you find shortcuts in construction that the contractor made on your new home.
Hopefully, it is almost everything you had dreamed of or wished for. You will inevitably find flaws as time goes on and familiarity replaces the unknown. Your flaws will be discovered and exposed as well and you will not always display your best side either. This should be where lust or desire for a person or thing transitions to a deeper love, honor, and respect. Conflict will exist, but it will be overshadowed by love and commitment.
When you receive Christ, get to know him. All your problems will not instantly go away, but he has all the answers. Take on his nature and become like him as you follow him with all your heart. Be fully committed to him and keep your eyes on him!
Colossians 3:10 (NLT) - “Put on your new nature, and be renewed as you learn to know your Creator and become like him.”
