What is wasting your time that you could easily get rid of? Have you ever come to the end of an activity and told yourself, “There’s a few hours out of my life I can never get back?” When you’re young it really doesn’t make much difference, but as you get old(er) like me, you start thinking more about wasted time in your day to day activities. Occasionally, I look back on my day and realize how much time I wasted on tasks that could have been better spent on something else or just plain wasted on nothing important at all.
Don’t get me wrong, it is really nice to have time to just do nothing! I call that veggie time… when I can just sit in my recliner, recharge my batteries, and watch some movies or favorite TV shows that I have recorded. I actually need a lot of that these days. The point I am trying to make is the importance of setting priorities and accomplishing tasks that are important versus tasks that are useless time killers. Those will often be different for each one of us.
Setting goals and priorities has never been one of my strong suits and, yet, is something I should improve on if I want to cut out wasted time in my life. So many things tug on me and pull me in different directions these days. This only serves to add stress and cause me to lose focus on the things that matter the most. I need to prune the excess and cultivate what is left so that I can be more fruitful in whatever God has for me to do. What about you?
