If you don’t, the world will teach them not to. It’s really as simple as that. Our country was once in a place where families gravitated toward church and toward Christ and maybe, just maybe, if you didn’t influence your children to follow Christ, they would be led to him by others. That is not so true today. There are way too many other influences that would draw them away from Christ and mock God and anyone who would follow him.
Parents have always been, and always will be, the best influences on their children in a home that is in proper order. We aren’t accountable as to whether our children accept Christ or not, but we are accountable as to whether or not we teach them to follow him. Our children are the most precious gift we have and woe unto us if we send them into the world unarmed without the sword of the Spirit, which is the Word of God. They will be unequipped and defenseless against an enemy whose sole purpose is to steal, kill, and destroy their souls.
Teach your children to follow Christ. Set an example for them to follow. Start them when they are young and they will be an example to their friends and their generation!
