That’s a long time! I’m so glad that my wife said yes all those years ago. There were so many more reasons she could have said no when I asked her to marry me, but she didn’t. She said yes and now we’ve been married 40 years! That just blows me away. It has been the most amazing and wonderful thing that could’ve ever happened to me. It’s been an incredibly wild and joyful ride.
Yes, there have been bumps and curves along the way, but never a moment of doubt that we were on a firm foundation. We set some ground rules that we agreed to follow, based on the Bible, and we never looked back. God is first, our marriage and family next, and all other things fall in line after that. It’s really that simple.
We may overuse “I love you”, but we say it and we mean it. We say it in front of our children and grandchildren. And we tell them that as well. We demonstrate love every chance we get. Marriage, contrary to what Hollywood portrays, is a wonderful, sacred thing that God created and we must live and love according to his Word and intentions.
