My Birthday Girl

I love to take any chance I can to brag on my beautiful wife. She is the most valued treasure I have. God blessed me with her a long time ago. And He blessed the world with her presence… a longer time ago. The first time I laid my eyes on her, I was captivated by her beauty and charm. She won me over immediately, even though she was a California girl. I’m from Arkansas and, at that time, I didn’t know any other California girls, so I had no reason to “wish they all could be California girls.”

Our story is a wonderful story, but today is about her because it’s her birthday. God knew what He was doing when He chose us for each other. She completes me as she has all the pieces of the puzzle that I’m missing… and there are many! Not that we haven’t gone through all the same struggles that every married couple go through, but ours has truly been a storybook marriage. We focus on each other’s strengths and work through the weaknesses, always building up one another and never tearing down.

I wish I could give her the world for her birthday, because she deserves it, but rightly so, she wouldn’t want it. Sure, she has wants and desires, but she is content with her needs. For so many years now, she has taken care of our household. That includes our children and me. We could never have done what we do without her. I love her so deeply and dearly. It’s cliche, but I love to tell her, “I love you more than yesterday, but not as much as tomorrow!” Those words are so true because love grows deeper with time and maturity. Happy birthday to the love of my life!
