Do you remember when you first started a relationship, how much you tried to please that person? You did everything in your power to please them. You do the same thing with a new pet. You spend hours with it, giving it all your time and attention. Or a new car, cleaning it often and meticulously, whether it needs it or not. Anything new seems to be more exciting and captivates the best of your emotions.
It was that way when you first accepted Christ as your Lord and Savior. The emotions of the moment made it all so wonderful and exciting. The experience was real and new and right, and you wanted to do everything you could to please him and show him how much you loved him. Do you still have that same zeal? Does your heart burn with the desire to tell others about your Savior?
Maybe you’ve settled into a certain amount of complacency and contentment. Are you just happy that you have him in your heart, but aren’t as anxious to tell others about him? Have you lost the zealousness that you felt when you first received him? Don’t settle on being pleased with God when you should work on pleasing God.
Please God by falling in love with him all over again. Do everything you can to please him. Do the work that he has called you to do. Tell others about him. Talk to him every day (pray) and read his Word. These are things that please him!
Psalms 104:34 (NLT) - “May all my thoughts be pleasing to him, for I rejoice in the Lord.”
