Search Me

An important and required aspect of my job for 20 years was to conduct searches, either of people or places. It was both for my safety and the safety of others, including the safety of the person being searched. Ninety-nine percent of the time, just like on television, if the person declared, “Go ahead and search!”, you could count on not finding anything of importance or significance. It would be unusual, for example, that you were hiding stolen diamonds in your home, if you so readily allowed police to search your home without a search warrant. You would most certainly not invite them in if you were hiding something there!

God does not need a search warrant to search your heart because he already knows it. You cannot hide anything from him because he knows your every thought and deed. It is in the asking that the blessings come. Invite him in to shine a light on any darkness and expose whatever secret sins you may be trying to hide from him. Release those anxious thoughts that are holding you captive and keeping you from experiencing the perfect peace that he wants to give you. Open the door to your heart and invite him in so that he may cleanse you and purify you and rid you of all that is holding you down. He will break the chains of bondage that the enemy has shackled you with and set you free.

Psalms 139:23-24 (NLT) - “Search me, O God, and know my heart; test me and know my anxious thoughts. Point out anything in me that offends you, and lead me along the path of everlasting life.”
