I’m the youngest (by far) of three children in my family. We’re all boys, so you know what saints my parents are to have raised us and kept their faith! I was always the pesky little brother and my older brothers fought over who could pick on me and who couldn’t. They are four and six years older than me, which is light years when you’re growing up! But they always found a way to include me in many of their activities. Okay, maybe my parents made them… you’ll have to ask them.
I love my brothers beyond description, but today I want to honor my middle brother because it’s his birthday. He and I are different in so many ways, but I don’t recall any time we never really got along beyond the normal sibling spats. I always felt he was watching over me, even when I didn’t see him. I knew he was there and, as a late bloomer in the height department, he towered over me, so it was great having a big brother around as backup. And he was big and strong!
I love his laugh, his obvious love for his family and children, and his compassionate heart. I haven’t been able to spend much time with him over the years because of my career path. I cannot wait to move closer and try to recapture some of the lost time. I want to laugh with him more, give him some more bear hugs, and just hang out and be brothers together.
Happy birthday, Big Brother. I love you!
