Call Anytime

I remember the days before cell phones, long before this Arkansas boy married his California girl, and how we would communicate via cards, letters, and this thing called a telephone. I couldn’t just text her or call her anytime of the day or night. If I wanted her to have some type of written communication, I had to write it out, put it in a stamped envelope, and mail it to her. If I wanted to call her, I had to pick up the telephone and call and hope she was home. If not, I had to leave a message with someone or leave a message on the family answering machine, where anyone could listen to it.

The other interesting thing is, the cost of a long distance phone call varied, depending on what time of day or evening we talked or whether it was a weekday or weekend. There were daytime, evening, and night time rates. The best rates were after 11:00 PM. She was on Pacific Time and I was on Central Time, so we had to account for that, which complicated things even more. Cell phones eventually took over, but they even had different costs at first. Today, with almost every plan, there is unlimited talk for any time of day and texting and emails have practically eliminated “snail mail” letter writing.

Talking to God has always been free and unlimited. He’s always ready and waiting to hear from you. And you never have to worry about a dropped call. Yes… he can hear you now!
