As Hurricane Dorian slowly approaches our eastern seaboard, I am reminded of the many natural disasters I’ve endured during my lifetime. Floods and fires, hurricanes and tornadoes, earthquakes, and droughts have come at us at various times and places. There is a helpless feeling that comes with standing against these natural phenomena. My human strength is simply nothing compared to the strength and power associated with “Mother Nature”.
I am even more amazed and in awe of our Almighty God because none of these things can compare with him. He can send them forth or call them back at his pleasure. He is far more powerful and mightier than all of them combined. The wind and the waves obey his voice and nothing is beyond his reach or control.
Whether your storm is a physical one or a spiritual one, God is there in the midst of it and he is there to deliver you. Call out to him and he will rescue you. Do not fear the storms in your life, but embrace God as he surrounds you with his peace as you put your trust in him.
Proverbs 18:10 (NLT) - “The name of the LORD is a strong fortress; the godly run to him and are safe.”
