I remember when it was assumed that Sunday mornings were always reserved for church. It was automatic. Nothing else got planned for that time slot and no one tried to steal it. You just didn’t plan anything that might interfere with that. People would skip or miss otherwise important events if they fell on a Sunday morning. That was God’s time and no one should mess with it.
Businesses and entertainment began to realize the potential profit to be gained if they were available on Sundays, so as more and more distractions became available, people were lured away from church. This caused a tear in the moral fabric of our society, along with many other subtle changes in our way of life. We have become hard of hearing or deaf to the voice of God and more tuned in to the call of the world.
Recapture time with God and fellowship with other believers. Get your Sunday back… and throw in a Wednesday, too! Some churches or fellowships offer services on other days of the week, but be involved in church regularly. Make your “Sundays” automatic and don’t let anything else interrupt them or at least make it a rare exception that you miss. You know you have some great excuses to miss… I do, too. Throw them away and go to church!
Acts 2 (TPT) - “Every believer was faithfully devoted to following the teachings of the apostles. Their hearts were mutually linked to one another, sharing communion and coming together regularly for prayer.”
