Work in Progress

My wife is a wonderful artist. I love watching the progression of her artwork through each stage. I don’t know the technical name for it, but she does paintings on canvas and her art is in the abstract category. She begins by texturing the canvas before adding the colors. It’s a complicated process that I can’t begin to explain nor do I have the talent to replicate. The Lord inspires her for each piece and it usually takes her days from start to finish.

I see her art in various stages while it is a work in progress. It always looks so amazing to me. Often, I think she has completed her painting when she is still days away from it. As the creator, she alone knows the intricate details of what is needed to complete her masterpiece. It certainly is a glorious thing on the final day when it is finished.

God began a good work within you on the day he created you. He continues to work on you, his masterpiece, each day. You are a work in progress and you will not be finished until the final day, when Jesus calls you home!

Philippians 1:8 (NLT) - “And I am certain that God, who began the good work within you, will continue his work until it is finally finished on the day when Christ Jesus returns.”
