I was in my home office working this morning, focused intently on the task at hand. My wife was in another part of the house packing and going through things, just as she has been doing for a long time now. As usual, she was playing worship music as she worked. I wasn’t really paying much attention to it because I was concentrating on what I was doing and it was barely audible. Suddenly, I became aware of the chorus to a familiar Kari Jobe song as she sang:
I am not alone
I am not alone
You will go before me
You will never leave me
I am not alone
I am not alone
You will go before me
You will never leave me
If you’re not familiar with her, Kari has such a beautiful, angelic voice. As she sang that chorus, my eyes began to well up with tears as that song spoke to my heart. The first verse says, “When I walk through deep waters, I know that You will be with me. When I’m standing in the fire, I will not be overcome. Through the valley of the shadow, I will not fear.” I knew that God made me hear that song, when none of the others before it came to my attention as I worked. I stopped and listened until the end and thanked Him for the sweet reminder.
Especially during this time of quarantine and isolation, God wants you to know that you are not alone. He has gone before you and He will never leave you. He is your strength, your defender, and your refuge in the storm. You are living in the shadow of the Almighty. You are never alone!
Psalms 91:1 (NLT) - “Those who live in the shelter of the Most High will find rest in the shadow of the Almighty.”
