Did you get pranked today on April Fool’s Day? I had to drive the 60 miles down to work today (and 60 miles back) to fix the problem that I caused myself (see yesterday’s blog). Because of the pandemic, your boss has to call ahead and get your name on a list of people authorized to access the building. She did that for me, but when I arrived at the security gate, they didn’t have my name on the list!
I was waiting for the guard to say, “April Fool’s!” and let me pass, but he didn’t. It all got straightened out and I was able to take care of the business I went there for and go back home. This was week three of working from home and, even though traffic was ultra light, I couldn’t believe how long the drive seemed to be. I made the drive in record time both ways, but it seemed so far! I asked my wife how I was going to be able to tolerate the drive again when everything returns to normal and I have to commute into work every day again.
I’m getting used to this working-from-home stuff. I don’t have to tack on an hour and a half to each end of my 9-hour day at work to commute. I simply walk into my home office just beyond our kitchen and laundry room and I’m there. I can’t fool myself into believing that it’s going to stay like this forever. I need to prepare myself for the reality that I’ll have to return to my old schedule and commute. God wants us to use wisdom and not be deceived. Stay alert and don’t be fooled!
1 Corinthians 3:18-19a (NLT) - “Stop deceiving yourselves. If you think you are wise by the world’s standards, you need to become a fool to be truly wise. For the wisdom of this world is foolishness to God.”
