I Really Do Care

Recently a couple of people I know died and it surprised me how hard it hit me. I was not close to either one, but I realized that I will truly miss seeing them and crossing paths with them. One is from my church and the other a former work associate that I see a couple of times each year. I am trying to remember my last interaction with both of them, but I can't remember what we spoke about. I hope it was at least a smile or a hug.

The point this brings me to is that you never know when you see someone if it will be the last time or not. It could be a stranger that you just met or a friend that you have known all your life. We need to slow down and take the time to make eye contact and interact with those around us. Maybe you won't remember what you talked about, but leave them with the impression that they matter and that you care.

Social media has negatively affected our ability to look each other in the eye and talk face to face. A warm smile, a tender inflection of the voice, and a loving hug are infinitely better at communicating our love than any type of emoji could ever hope to convey. Let your presence show people that your really do care!

1 Corinthians 13:13 (NLT) - "Three things will last forever - faith, hope, and love - and the greatest of these is love."
