Informed or Transformed

When you read your Bible or go to church, do you come away informed or transformed? If it’s the former, and not the latter, you need to go at it with a whole new perspective. The written or spoken Word of God should change you each and every time, if you are tuned in and actively engaged. Your heart and spiritual ears must be open and receptive to hear the message He is speaking to you.

Sometimes I find myself getting into the rut of reading through an organized Bible reading program and end up reading out of perceived “obligation.” It often loses its power that way. It’s part of my routine to attend church on a consistent basis and that can become dull if I lose my perspective and devalue it. The current pandemic has certainly broken my routines and helped me to discover how crucial and important the Word and fellowship is to me.

I miss the “old normal”, but I have found myself praying more, studying the Bible more, listening to more Biblical podcasts, and participating in more online church meetings than I did on campus. His Word is more alive to me and I am more in love with God than ever before. So, don’t just be informed and bored, be transformed and made alive again by His Word!

Hebrews 4:12 (NLT) - “For the word of God is alive and powerful. It is sharper than the sharpest two-edged sword, cutting between soul and spirit, between joint and marrow. It exposes our innermost thoughts and desires.”
