An Important Part

Our physical bodies are an amazing design that our Creator made. The elaborate network of nerves, muscle, tissue, blood, bones, brains, veins and arteries, and numerous other things, are each impressive individually. But the manner in which they all work and interact collectively just to make one little movement is mind-boggling. Our feet help us to stand, run, walk, and keep our balance. Our hands hold things, protect us, and help us do many things. I could go on and on about all the body parts and their functions, but they are all very important to me. I don’t want to be without any of them!

This morning, I walked into our family room to turn on the lights and kicked the vacuum cleaner with the big toe on my right foot. It hurt all over and I limped around for a few minutes until the pain subsided. If one part of your body hurts, it affects the whole body. The rest of the body has to compensate for it until it is healed and restored.

Paul made an analogy about spiritual gifts within the church and equated them with different parts of the body. The point he made was that everyone has been equipped with different spiritual gifts. Each one is important and none is more important than another. There are many parts and God has put each one exactly where He wants it, both in our physical bodies and in the body of Christ. Whether you are a pastor or teacher, leader, helper, or any other part of the body, you are necessary and vital to the life of the body. You are an important part!

1 Corinthians 12:18 (NLT) - “But our bodies have many parts, and God has put each part just where He wants it.”
