A Change of Heart

The tragic, senseless, killing of Ahmaud Arbery, a young black jogger in Georgia, back in February, has come to national attention after a video only recently came to light. I won’t rehash the story here because it’s all over the internet and Facebook. It has created a lot of dialogue, which is a great thing.

Maybe it will somehow unite us in a desire to want to see change in how we look at one another and judge one another. God is no respecter of persons and neither should we be. I have been guilty of looking at another person and making an instant judgment about their character, based on a first impression.

Although first impressions may be accurate, they can also be wrong. If that judgment is based upon the color of their skin, it is instantly wrong and unfair. Unfortunately, we all have generations of that to work out, but that doesn’t give us an excuse not to try. I pray that, as I search my own heart, God will reveal any wicked way in me so that I can repent and change my heart!

Psalms 139:23-24 (NLT) - “Search me, O God, and know my heart; test me and know my anxious thoughts. Point out anything in me that offends you, and lead me along the path of everlasting life.”
