I’m not sure who I’m borrowing this from, but it’s good. “Practice the pause. When in doubt, pause. When angry, pause. When tired, pause. When stressed, pause. And when you pause, pray.”
Why pause? Because it gives you a chance to gather yourself and your thoughts before taking action under the wrong conditions. Doubt, anger, exhaustion, and stress are just some factors that can have a negative impact on your decision making process. Acting out of emotion could cause you to harm yourself or others.
Praying during the pause sets you back on course and invites God into the process. When that happens, great things happen in the spiritual realm. He loves it when we pause to pray and seek Him. For some of us, it doesn’t come easy. So, practice the pause!
Proverbs 20:25 (NLT) - “Don’t trap yourself by making a rash promise to God and only later counting the cost.”
