We all make mistakes and, yes, it is human to err. Unless, of course, you’re a Marine. “To err is human, to forgive is divine… neither of which is Marine Corps policy.” I loved that joke back in the day. I’ve used it many times in working for other organizations just to get a laugh.
You have to allow others to make honest mistakes because, just like you, they are human. It is vital to your health and theirs that you forgive as well. Unforgiveness is rotten to your soul and creates bitterness and division. It’s okay to be righteously angry, but don’t harbor unforgiveness.
Jesus tells us to forgive one another. The Bible is filled with Scriptures on forgiveness. That should reinforce the importance placed on that concept. To err is human and to forgive is divine. It truly only matters that it is God’s policy!
Ephesians 4:32 (NLT) - “Instead, be kind to each other, tenderhearted, forgiving one another, just as God through Christ has forgiven you.”
