That seems to characterize our national leadership these days, including those seeking office. It’s the season where campaign ads are coming out and they will increase at a blistering pace. I would love to see ads that focus only on what the candidate’s plan and ideas are and not what their opponent’s faults or failures are. Tell me what you are going to do! It’s not my fault, it’s the other party or person’s fault seems to be the flavor of most ads. Politics is most often a blame game and not a solution game. One party accuses the other party for not cooperating and the stalemate continues.
Crime is rampant and getting worse, our borders are porous and we have no idea who is getting in illegally, and the economy is tanking. There are so many problems that need to be addressed and corrected and nothing seems to be happening to fix them. Our leaders are paralyzed into inaction. Does this sound negative enough? We need a national heart change and leaders who are truly integrous and have the interest of our country as their motive for serving. But most of all, we need to pray for our country and its leaders.
The Lord tells us to pray for those in authority. I have always prayed for whoever was in office at all levels of government, whether I voted for them or not. If there are any leaders with evil hearts or intentions, pray for either a heart change or their removal. But always pray for them. Pray for America! This is still the greatest nation and I am proud to be an American!
1 Timothy 2:2 (NLT) - Pray this way for kings and all who are in authority so that we can live peaceful and quiet lives marked by godliness and dignity.
