We all need somebody to love. I think there is an old song out there somewhere that says that. But we all need somebody to love us. We need a love that never fails us. There are so many facets to love that I cannot begin to cover them here. It carries such strong emotions that can crush us if we feel that no one loves us, whether it is actually true or not. Love can heal us and lift us up through good times and bad times.
I think of my parents when I think of an earthly example of unfailing love. I have made mistakes in my life that upset or angered them. But there was never a time that I felt like they stopped loving me. They never failed to love me even when discipline and correction were rightly deserved or required. For me, that love was so strong and powerful that it often prevented me from doing things that I knew would upset or disappoint them. They were a great example for me with my children.
God’s love for us is perfect and unfailing. He will never leave us or forsake us. He loved us so much that he sent his one and only Son to save us. He died for our sins so that we could receive his salvation. That is a wonderful, marvelous love beyond compare. Such a truly unfailing love!
John 1:14 (NLT) - So the Word became human and made his home among us. He was full of unfailing love and faithfulness. And we have seen his glory, the glory of the Father’s one and only Son.
