Firm Footing

I used to do a great deal of hiking as a teenager and during my military years. I traversed mountains, streams, forests, and trails in various climates and conditions. One important aspect of hiking is to watch your step and place your foot on a firm surface so that you don’t slip or stumble. A twisted, sprained, or broken ankle will end an otherwise enjoyable excursion quickly.

Have you ever walked or ran on a beach through dry loose sand? It’s slow going and a lot of work. Much less effort is required to go on the wet compacted sand along the edge of the water. A home requires a firm foundation to support the structure built on top of it and to withstand the storms that blow against it.

Jesus is our firm foundation. We must build our lives upon Him so that when the storms of life blow against us we will stand firm and not fall. He is our Rock and our Salvation. Ask Him to guide your steps and place your feet on firm footing.

Psalms 143:10 (NLT) - “Teach me to do your will, for you are my God. May your gracious Spirit lead me forward on a firm footing.”
