It is tornado season right now in the region of the country that I live in. Lives and homes have been devastated through the destructive power of these terrifying storms. It happens every year around this time and there is nothing mankind can do to prevent it. The same can be said for hurricanes, floods, blizzards, earthquakes, and any other natural disaster. All we can do is build on a firm foundation and structure our homes to best resist the calamities.
The tornado that came through Arkansas a couple of days ago hit close to home because it destroyed the house of a close friend. Thankfully, no one was home at the time and the children were at school. An army of family and friends came through in a big way to immediately help with the salvage effort. That is the silver lining in most natural disasters. The best of humanity comes out during these times. People from all walks of life jump in and help each other. Disasters are the great equalizer.
Aerial views of disaster zones often show nothing remaining except for foundations. The foundation is the strongest part of the structure and is the anchor for the remaining part. You are able to rebuild on the foundation that has been laid. Jesus is our firm foundation. Build your life on him. Unlike earthly structures, the winds of destruction cannot prevail against a life built on him. He is our Rock and Savior!
Luke 6:47-48 (NLT) - I will show you what it’s like when someone comes to me, listens to my teaching, and then follows it. It is like a person building a house who digs deep and lays the foundation on solid rock. When the floodwaters rise and break against that house, it stands firm because it is well built.
