Same Path Different Approach

My primary walking route is a one-mile lap around my father’s neighborhood. I’m here five days each week and I walk two laps each day for my current exercise routine. I consider that a minimum amount of exercise for my age and fitness level. A 30-minute walk each day is the recommended amount. Since two miles takes me just under 40 minutes, I’m good!

During my walk this morning I had a flashback to the days when I used to run that same path. I began with one mile and eventually worked up to six miles. The path is the same today but my approach to physical fitness is different. Initially I was training and preparing for my service in the Marine Corps. As time passed my approach was to maintain my fitness for continued government service. Now as I’m in my retirement years I am focused on my health and a healthy extension of my life expectancy. I recognize the need to safely elevate my exercise routine and improve my eating habits to reach my current goals.

God calls for us to exercise our faith and increase our intensity as we go down the straight and narrow path with him. We are spiritual babies when we first receive our salvation. As we grow and mature in our faith our path is the same but our approach is different. We received so much and we must also give to others by sharing our faith and showing the way to Christ. One way, one path, one Lord!

Proverbs 4:26 (NLT) - “Mark out a straight path for your feet; stay on the safe path.”
